Privacy Policy
Written in plain English, because our users deserve clear communication.
The short version: ClearPath collects absolutely nothing about you. It has no servers. Your data never leaves your browser.
What data ClearPath collects
None. ClearPath does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data, browsing history, usage data, or any other information about you or how you use the extension.
What stays on your device
Your settings are saved using your browser's built-in storage.sync API. This syncs your settings across your own devices via your browser account. ClearPath never sees or touches this data — it goes directly between your browser and your browser account.
The Simplify feature
If you use Simplify or Summarize, selected text is sent to your chosen LLM provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or a local Ollama instance):
- Text goes directly from your browser to the API provider
- It does not pass through any ClearPath server — there is no ClearPath server
- It is subject to your API provider's privacy policy
- Using Ollama (local mode) means text never leaves your device at all
Analytics & tracking
None. Zero. ClearPath contains no analytics code, no tracking pixels, no telemetry, no crash reporting that sends data anywhere.
Open source
ClearPath is completely open source. Every line of code is publicly auditable at github.com/clearpath-ext/clearpath-extension. You don't have to take our word for any of this.
Changes to this policy
Any changes will be visible in the git history of this file and announced in the repository's release notes.
